Our Vision  |  Our Mission  |  Our Method  |  Our Offerings   |   Biography of Stell Kefalas   |   Consulting Engagements

During my thirty years in academe I had the opportunity to engage in many and diverse consulting projects in the USA and worldwide. Some of these projects involved small family-owned companies, which were either started, or were inherited, by former students at the UGA or other institutions where I taught or I consulted with. Other engagements involved public institutions, such the University of Georgia's Small Business Development Center (SBDC), as well as large private for profit corporations. Below are brief summaries of these experiences.

Family Business Strategies
Currently this is my MAIN emphasis. My long experience has taught me the following:
1. Family-Owned Businesses (FOB) are the backbone of every society (in every country more than 95% of business establishments are FOB; some
50% of the jobholders make their living by working with a FOB; finally, more than 50% of the Gross Domestic Product is created by FOB).
2. Family-Owned Businesses (FOB) have a number of problems that are common across types of business and across national cultures.
3. Owners-Managers across cultures deal with these problems in similar ways: ignoring them until they become unmanageable.

The Global Family Business Consultants, a global consulting company that I founded, aims at assisting the Owners-Managers of Family-Owned Business in creating a sustainable business strategy that will help them avoid the perennial problem of "not-being-able-to-survive-beyond-the-FIRST-generation."
